Absolutely, why the heck should he be enjoying a 996? Be sure to explain the 100 modes of failure, the entire IMSB saga, intermix issues, bad AOS, faulty oil gauge, leaky RMS, D-chunking, out of round crank bore, cylinder wall scoring, water pump impeller destruction, overheating hot spots, cracked heads, porous blocks, overpriced parts, extreme repair costs, etc.

Dont forget to include the free falling sell prices in case he gets any ideas about selling out.

Just this one comment should cause a total mental breakdown.

and that by using the right oil, you're using the WRONG oil.
He will probably never leave the driveway again once your done. Another 996 owner now informed. Mission accomplished!

KrazyK, I see a Miata in your future. You'll be happier. I promise.

Actually I get KrazyK's humor.
And yes, I have come to the conclusion that ignorance sometimes is bliss - at least when it comes to 996 ownership!

996 = Smartest Porsche ever made/owned. Risk to reward is strong. I've owned two Audis previous to this 99 C2 and I spent less on the P-car, have more fun, and sleep with a big smile on my face. Learn to stop worrying and love the car.

You're right...I probably get a dozen class action lawsuit notices a year on products or services I've bought and never taken any action on it because it didn't affect me.

"Imagine the bliss of not knowing that your side markers are the wrong color, that your perfectly-running car is a ticking time bomb just WAITING for an excuse to let go, that you are ruining it by not driving it enough / driving it too much / not driving it hard enough / driving it too hard, and that by using the right oil, you're using the WRONG oil."

some things need to be repeated....

Here is the difference....if there was a "regular car" in my garage, I would not stop to look out the window in the door leading to the garage every time I go in the kitchen so I can look at my beautiful daily driver...getting more beautiful all the time.

Clear side markers on the way, and I love my new anthracite gray wheels!! I will change my profile picture as soon as I replace the side markers....

Yes, it's that good it's worth repeating yet again...

Sometimes I wish I never checked any forums before I bought my first 911, but the same could be said for any car. Forums are a great help when you need it, but they do nothing but strike fear into everyone as everyone highlights a car's faults.

A strong community enhances the enjoyment of a car (and neuroses). One of my past cars and all time favorites was an E39 M5 - truly excellent online community!

Porsche has a similar demographic and hence a similar online vibe .
