FS: 04 996 Cab **New Clutch and Porsche Crate Engine**

Sounds like a very nice car! I had a '99 Silver Cab with a new factory motor, $95K MSRP, 61K miles sold 3 years ago for $30K. The guy that bought it is still very happy with it.
If I was looking for another 996, I'd buy yours. GLWS

I bought a car with a freshly factory replaced engine (consider it a big plus) but should point out to you that the new upgraded bearing is NOT replacable during a clutch change. It is larger and no longer fits through the hole. Thus, if replacement is needed or desired, the only option is to split the case, i.e. unrealistic as standard maintenance.

Thanks, I appreciate it. I'll be back in the Porsche camp again someday, just need a bigger garage first...

Just a thought - for those of us in the know, this would be more than a fair purchase. For those who are not enthusiasts, the detail on why the replacement engine complete with the invoice might scare them off.
The invoice made me feel a little better as my dealer charged me about $2,200 for labor and a few misc. parts when they swapped the motor in my 2004 C4S a few months ago. I have 40k miles on the car with less than 2k miles on the motor, and man does it run like a dream.
I realize this doesn't really help you, but if I was still employed and not needing to live off of my savings, I would most likely scoop this one up and add it to the stable.
I hope somebody realizes the value of this deal and seizes the opportunity.

Thanks for all of the positive replies. At the moment I have the car listed for sale on Rennlist and Autotrader. Any other sites you would recommend?
I also was curious how the non-enthusiast would react to the engine replacement. For those that know about the 996 it would be a nice plus, but not sure if it would be a red flag for others?

Thought I would bump this thread for the weekend. Price is still $31,500 or best offer. I've had a lot of interested people, but nothing definitive yet. Hope everyone is doing well!
