996 C4S exhaust
I'm expecting the MO30 ROW from Gert by the end of the week and now I'm looking for a reasonable exhaust upgrade option. I don't wan to spend $5k+ for Fabspeed or Tubi. Anyone experience with Agency Power performance mufflers ($850 -$950) or Top Speed Pro 1 Performance headers? They cost only $250 but most times you get what you pay for.

Listen to Krazy about the mufflers. My preference is the Fister/Gundo mod over the PSE after having both.
Reading these forums on the topic of exhaust headers, there seems to be a consensus that most aftermarket systems negatively affect performance, so there is something to consider there.

Thank you all. I will have the hack done on the stock mufflers and see (or better hear) how I like it.
I saw these headers on ebay for $250. Has anyone installed those? Can it be a quality product at that price?

Headers are a waste of money, they've been shown time and time again to do nothing for these cars, unless you can get your hands on a set of X51 headers.
I have the Fabspeed cans on my C4S and they are the best sounding exhaust for these cars IMO. The Agency Power cans are a good option as well, but they aren't as loud as the Fabspeed (I Gundo-hacked my friends AP cans because he wanted them louder).

Well, I just ordered the Fister mod. From all the opinions out there it sounds to me the best way to go. I will post how I feel about them after installation. And I will leave the headers alone.

Just curious, how does the PSE hack compare to bypass pipes? My guess is that bypass pipes are louder but are they a lot louder or just incrementally so?

I have had the Fister Ds for a month. They sound amazing and I have had many positive comments from PCA friends. Last weekend we did a 500 mile loop into WV. On the interstate the sound was barely noticeable, if at all. But in tunnels or mountain roads, fabulous!
Darin at FD Motorsports was great to work with. You do need to be prepared for a wait if you are not sending your mufflers for modification. It took almost two months for him to get a pair in on exchange in good condition and that matched my '02.
I had my regular independent to the install. My car originally came from the Northeast and they had to replace all of the original brackets and bolts due to corrosion. A custom muffler shop might not have had that hardware in stock - or even had access to parts numbers or suppliers (assuming you want OEM - which I always do).
One warning - my gas mileage has definitely dropped due to continual throttle blipping and dipping!

Here's a link to my Gundo Hack. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Hb0Pb...ature=youtu.be
Sounds better in person I think. Quiet while cruising. Definitely can hear it on cold-start and when you get on it. Even going up the incline towards my house, you can't hear the exhaust (this is me driving normal. if you get on it you can hear it)
