New Owner 996 Black 99 Coupe
Hi all, so after much deliberation and negotiation over a 1999 C2, the dealer and I finally agreed on a price based on a PPI report I had done 2 weeks ago.
And I couldn't be happier! It's a '99 with 67k miles, tons of history (inc clutch and RMS), almost mint metallic black body, Limited Slip Diff, Traction control, full leather interior (also totally mint), Supple seats, three spoke steering wheel, LED headlights, turbo 18" wheels and heated seats. Great options eh?
Had a couple more inspections and no metal in the oil filter - yeah!
This is my first 911 and it is indeed a wonder to behold. The feeling of control is amazing. Just gotta get that oil separator changed now as the dealer had their people just replace a boot over the oil leak to get it through the smog check. I know... Also it's a bit slow to start and I think it's the starter as the battery is fine.
Anyway wanna say what a great site this is and how much I've learned in the past few weeks from it and especially from you fine people.
The 996 is a beautifully designed car.
Happy motoring all! Gotta love these '99's!!!
PS please excuse sh***y pics, better ones to come when she's been polished.

Great looking car. Maybe check the condition and type of the trans oil.
Yeh I dont get the plate drama either. Hundreds of people see it everyday you drive. Why is it "top secret" on a forum? Like every forum member has a TLET's terminal at their disposal?
Blurred out the plate number but your avatar has a clear shot of it.

Is there a transmission oil change at 60k? I know it had a full 60k mile service at Beverly Hills Porsche. Either way I think I'm gonna have the trans oil flushed anyway. Jeez though has anyone made a decision on the best LSD transaxle oil yet?

Is there a transmission oil change at 60k?
60K:
Diagnosis system: Read out fault memory
Change engine oil and oil filter*
Underside of vehicle and engine compartment: Visual inspection for leaks (oils and fluids) and chafing (lines and hoses)
Underbody covers: Visual inspection for completeness, fastening and signs of damage
Coolant hoses: Check condition
Radiators and air intakes: Visual inspection for exterior soiling and blockage
Coolant: Check level and antifreeze
Particle filter: Replace filter element
Brake system: Visual inspection of the brake pads and brake discs for signs of wear
Brake hoses and lines: Visual inspection for damage, correct routing and corrosion
Drive shafts: Visual inspection of the boots for leaks and signs of damage
Tires: Check condition and tire pressure
Door locks, lid locks, safety hook and internal trunk release mechanism (trunk entrapment) of the front lid:
Check to ensure that they are adjusted correctly and function properly
Vehicle lighting system: Check function
All headlights: Check adjustment
Horn: Check function
Windshield wiper/washer system, headlight washer: Check fluid level and nozzle adjustments, make sure to check the
antifreeze during the winter months; check wiper blades
Electrical devices as well as indicator and warning lights: Check function
AND:
Additional maintenance every 120,000 mls, but no later than every 12 years
Manual transmission: Change oil
Automatic transmission: Change ATF and ATF filter
Automatic transmission: Change oil in final drive
Four-wheel final drive: Change oil
I personally think these long intervals are total BS but thats your decision.

Will do. Need advice on LSD oil but I'll ask around... BTW the license plate isn't on any car and the blurring is a habit since I started last night to sell my Boxster on craigslist. Cheers all

Welcome ICE. Fister D modded mufflers or some Tubi or Speedtechs and you won't hear the whine any longer.
Get the starter/alternator or ignition switch checked for the slow starting if its not the battery.
+100 on making sure the front rads and condensers haven't built up crud in between.

Looks exactly like my 2000 C2. Beautiful car and a blast to drive. The tranny fluid is due to be changed at 90K, as per the owners manual. But when I bought mine in 2012 with 20K miles, I had all fluids changed. Can't be too careful?
