Air Bag light
Posting for a friend:
Just pulled the car out of storage. Looks like when I pulled the battery
cables off to do some repairs, it has now turned on the air bag warning light
on the dash. My guess is there is a reset process, but owner' s manual said to
take it in for service. Light comes on with the key and flashes off for a
second as car starts, then turns on continually. any help would be
appreciated as we are heading out on vacation and it would be nice not to face
this for the next 6000 miles.

An airbag light can only be reset with Durametric, a Porsche PST2, or Porsche PIWIS tester.
The code should be read first to see if you have a problem. My guess would be a seat belt buckle as they are common faults.

+1 to Loren's comments.
The seat belt buckle has been replaced on my '99, and I still get an airbag fault every once in a while. Not sure what causes the intermittent fault, but I reset it with my Durametric (about once a year), then it goes away.
It was the reason I got the Durametric, but now I'm glad I have it for checking misc. faults (and enabling my instrument panel's on-board-computer )

I had that same problem and posted here on RL about 3 years ago. I was shocked how many fellow RL'ers had the same problem. I twice replaced the receiver part of the driver's seatbelt and still could not get the damn light off. After about a year and a half, one day I noticed that it was off. Never came on again

I had mine turned off last weekend with a scanner that was neither that you listed.
