Default Help, serp belt tensioner spinning!!

Trying to remove belt to change alternator. Tensioner pulley won't loosen, just spins in place. Is there a thread at the rear I need to hold?

Help, stuck in middle of job, need this sucker changed!

Thanks guys!

Sounds like time to replace - there's no way the belt tensioner should be doing what you describe.

You are doing it wrong. The tensioner needs to be swung to remove the belt. What you did was remove the tensioner roller. If you try to pu it back, you'll have to fight the tensioner spring pressure and can easily cross thread it.

Read up, lol!!

I know it needs to swing, but the 24mm nut needs to stay static. A quick tighten on the 15mm rear nut got it nice and tight and I could swing it up like normal..no problem!

Thanks for help!
