Default DMF Failure

Hi everyone!

If the DMF on a C4 failed what would the symptoms be?

Also, if a car was driven on a failed DMF for an extended period of time would it cause other stuff to be damaged?

I'm not a 996 owner (yet) but I'm looking and I'd love to find one with something wrong with the clutch or DMF so I will be able to get in there immediately and do the IMS bearing, RMS, clutch and other stuff and be able to drive it worry (and leak) free for a while. Obviously I'd get a PPI but why waste $300 on something I might be better off walking away from?

Thanks,
Jrboulder

Failed DMF can cause very bad imbalance that cracks the bell housing and/or tears up other parts.

I didn't realize the DMF failure rate was that big of a concern? Whats this a new reason to stress?

It is not very common. I think I have only read about two causing real problems on this board in the last 4yrs or so.
