I bought my 02 996 this but unfortunately, traded my 928 in. I still have the 951 beast. 996 is nice to drive and the wife actually likes it. Dealer replaced IMS, RMS clutch, belts, shocks and a few other items for me. Car is great so far. And Silver

Nice interior. My typical suggestion is to get rid of the cassette holder (cassette holder!?!) in the dash and replace it with an inexpensive cubby tray. The cassette holder just pulls out. You can get the cubby tray at bumperplugs.com or suncoastporsche.
Congrats on the new ride! (go peek at it again in the garage. It's ok, we won't tell anyone.)
ps. Love the side skirts!

Thanks everyone for the welcome and comments on the car. In terms of mods, I do want to get rid of the cassette holder and ash tray. I'm likely going to put in an iPad mini but I'm debating on if I keep the CDR-220 or put in something else. I find the Bose stereo creates a lot of vibration coming from the rear bass units and I'm wondering if that's normal. I'll hunt around the forums.

Feel free to PM if you want any more info on how I did mine.

An aftermarket radio with good Apple integration (Pioneer DEH-X9500BHS for example) will allow you to 1) Power and charge the ipad directly from the head unit, 2) use the lightning USB connector to feed a digital audio signal to the head unit, 3) control music either from the head unit or the ipad. Plus the audio quality of the Becker head units is pretty marginal.
I'm not familiar with the pre-MOST bose amp, but I assume you can use the line level outputs of an aftermarket deck and connect to your existing amp/speaker setup if you don't want to upgrade them.
