Dead CDR-220? An easy Fix
My CDR-220 seemed to be dying a slow death... some times working awhile then shutting down and sometimes the "PORSCHE" name just flashed and it would turn off. Finally died two days ago - no power? but if you pushed the CD button the door would open to eject the CD, yet still no light or sound.
The FiX...
I took out the removable faceplate, snapped it back in and - wow - everything works as new. I think 13 year old connections need to be cleaned once and a while.

The faceplace is removable? You mean easily removable to deter theft, or that it can be removable?
NVM, I just went to the car to check it out, it is easily removable, and I never knew that or even read about it!
My radio would infrequently cut out momentarily as if power was interrupted but comes right back on within a fraction of a second, perhaps scrubbing the contacts a bit may help this situation.

I may have a look at this. Mine fails intermittently... Most of the time when it is really cold and does the same thing yours did... Display a Porsche script. Then works again. If it fiddle with it when it is doing this, the sound values reset to zero.
I just assumed there was some internal blink that I'd eventually fix with upgraded stereo...
It is ironic that a pesky failure like this is compounded the "Porsche" reminder sign your radio that "... there is no [proverbial] failure."

The the Radios have "Anti-Theft" removable Face Plates. It is noted in the Cr-220 and CDR-220 manual. Simply open the CD door - grasp and pull the right lower corner and pop out. Reinsert in the reverse order. And of course if you have had power-loss symptoms ... clean the contacts.

Try removing the faceplate and cleaning all connections with alcohol or electronics cleaner and a Q-Tip. That fixed mine. Sometimes pulling the fuse will reset everything.
