Asked shop about CEL error and suggested coil pack and plug change to see if it fixed. swiched dist cables between 5&6 to see if error code moved to cyl 5. Only jacked up one side to do work.
I'm summing it up to bad day. Problem was in the works. Compression check may have shown more. live and learn. May get compression tool for future use.

Problem found
I need to change my initial diagnosis from IMS to oil starvation. So, final prognosis from Jake Raby @ Flat6 is my engine died because the excess sealant from the oil pan was sucked up by the oil pick-up restricting oil flow into the engine.
I have a new item to add to the list of my annual check up items. Drain oil, check oil pick-up for any debris. (and of course.... stare at pretty internals of my new Flat6 engine)

I find this HIGHLY unlikely... if that was the case then why wouldn't your engine grenade when on a race track? For example, Daytona's steepest angle is about 31 degrees... that's pretty steep! While starting a car on jacks is not a safe way of doing maintnenance, I doubt if it caused your issues. Sorry for the bad luck...

Here... Glad to hear he is getting a rebuild from Jake so he can continue to run and enjoy the car.

I am guessing these pics are the innards of his engine: https://www.facebook.com/media/set/?...4914693&type=3
