Default Used 3.4 crankshaft

Hi All,

This past fall I spun a rod and main bearing. The crank is mildly scored and from what i have read there are no oversized bearings available if I have it machined. I am hoping someone here could point me in the right direction to where i might locate a used crankshaft. I have been looking non stop to no avail and quite frankly a new part is out of my budget.

Thanks!

I may have one.

We also have our own bearings and may be able to fit something based on your old unit, IF it is not cracked.

Could you please give the story about the cause of the failure?

Awesome! Jake, I will message you.

Not 100% sure of the failure, however I am pretty confident it is due to the dual mass flywheel being junk.

Heres the story, bought the car about 2 years ago from another member here that lived in the area. Its a 99 C2 coupe. First weekend owning it i put a new clutch and LNE IMS bearing in it. Ran like a champ for a year. I did some additional mods:
-New coils/plugs
-New slave & made a braided clutch line
-Front cup car brake ducts, braided brake lines
-exhaust
-twist wheels

Driving home from work one afternoon, probably a block from my house I lose oil pressure so I immediately turned it off and pushed it home. This also happened to be about a 3 weeks after I bought a new house, so it sat in the garage for 4 months untouched until i had some time this winter to dig into it.

Pulled the motor

Ripped the motor apart and inspected everything. Basically i could find absolutely no damage anywhere. Until i got down to the crank:

Anyway, plan is to get everything cleaned and checked, new parts in the bottom end where the budget permits (which is small), and get her back together.

In my time searching for a crank i have been able to get a couple other things done:
new carrera wheels w/ R888's
Started working on the cage
Rennline killswitch installed
OMP world challenge wheel w/ Snap-Off QR

Nope, loss of viscosity through thermal breakdown. Thats the classic lost rod bearing that we see over and over again on the track. Its usually that particular rod journal.

Interesting, same with the first main bearing (from the back)?

At most probably had 100 miles on fresh oil, is this something that would take some time to develop?

As far as prevention, any suggestions as this will be seing track time. Better oil cooler setup? I lost a radiator probably 6 months prior, but water temps have never been an issue.
