2004 C4S 61,000 miles. Changed IMS with Clutch in February 2019 for superstitious reasons.

Aftermarket trolling for IMSB failure is only second to new, first time posts; what oil should i used in my _____________.

Sleeping better or worse after removing a perfectly good part for a new, but now a wear item parts?

Sleeping better, thank you. No more nagging sense of possible doom. Absolutely worth the expense.

So you'll be going back to your "perfectly good" IMSB that was removed recently?

Trolling for dollars...

You have to admit the aftermarket parts guys have done an exceptional job creating the market for paranoid 996 owners.

Not according to anyone that lost a motor because of it. Seems like a no brainer to me. Except, I would go with the LN Solution and never worry about IMSB again. Do it once and forget about it!

That's where I'll put my money.

1999 C4. Original dual row bearing was replaced with clutch at 94K miles in 2015. Bearing was fine with no signs of wear. New dual row LN IMSB installed at that time. Currently at 125k miles.

2001 C2 cab with 50k miles, dual row bearing, 2nd owner. Replaced my IMSB with the LNE Solution, replaced original clutch/pp/fw/bearing/lever (clutch worn 40%). Everything was perfect: no leaks, clean oil inside the IMS, lovely 2 row bearing in pristine condition. I drive 3-5k / year and use Motul 5w40. I did have to replace bank 1 variocam pads that were pretty badly pitted and the cam deviation was running about -8 degrees (no code). The most noticeable improvement is smoother uptake when releasing the clutch in first - although the original clutch was lightly worn and the flywheel functioned according to specs, the new hardware seemed to make a significant difference. The second most noticeable difference is that I no longer worry about the IMSB failing, but I worry about that little oil feed line chafing. Ill get over that - the IMS Solution is a nice piece of kit.

"but I worry about that little oil feed line chafing."

Chafing on what? It shouldn't be making contact with anything. If it is, adjust the fittings until the line doesn't touch anything. If you can't, just put a piece of rubber tubing around it...

99 C2 manual with 158000 KMs (~100,000 miles). Factory IMS, no failure. However, right bank ticking, as in "ticking time bomb".

The ticking could be a sticky intake valve lifter. I had that on my 2003 996.2. My indy dropped the engine and replaced all six (two per cylinder) on that side.
