Smoke

It seems like i may have the same issue. There is oil on the underside of some of the black throttle body air tubes and i had the big puffs of smoke yesterday.
It smoked for a little bit afterwards also.
I replaced the one on my boxster and i am sure this one will need it too.
I want to make sure that i am understanding this; there is only one aos in the car. For some reason i thought i saw something about two of them.

What you may be thinking of is the engine oil sump has two swirl pots designed to remove air from the oil as the oil comes from the scavenge pumps. These swirl pots de-foam the oil.
Oil in the air (routed to the intake) makes the engine smoke.
Air in the oil (routed to the bearings) smokes the engine.

Make sure to get the right one. Early cars had a bellows.

So far so good. I think the smoke that i saw was attributed to me jacking up the right side of the car pretty high to get under it. I think the extreme angle may have leaked some oil where it shouldn't have.
But, i am pretty sure it will need to be replaced. If i don't see any more symptoms, i'll replace it next winter when it sits.
