You need a new key fob. They die and stop working. Buy a new one on eBay that is brand new and comes with the bar code tab. Take it to Porsche, they'll put your key into it and program it to your car. Do not buy one unless it has the bar code tab or it will be a waste of money. I bought a new one on eBay for $85.00 a few months ago, dealer charged me $65 to program it.
It is likely the alarm "brain" in the car - I looked into replacing it, and when I saw the $1000+ price tag, I've decided to live with locking the doors manually with the key.
Do you have any more info on how you re-soldered the button connections? Mine recently stopped working but I can see where the button swith came off and needs to be reconnected.

- Changed the battery
- Re-solder the button connections
- LED light works and blinks when pressed
What are other things can I do to diagnose this problem before going to a shop or stealership?
Thanks in advance.
This from an answer on Renntech with the same problem, same repair attempts, same Q about Ebay. You should contact this guy maybe he found a good place to get a key head cheap.
Contact Sunset Porsche they usually sell them for ~$130. Local dealer normally charges 1 hour labor to program. Bring any working keys with you they need them to make sure they don't delete a working key. If you only had one, buy two new transmitters and get them both programmed for same price."

This only apply if the key "led" does NOT light up, correct?
If you want the remote to work you are going to have to have to breakdown and have a new one programmed. No amount of chanting incantations while dancing around the car holding the transmitter above your head will fix it.
That only works for the dealer while they dance around a fire built out of your Benjamins.
