Do you ever feel like an ass owning/driving a Porsche?

We don't know how lucky we are
I've felt a little silly being 32 when I got my C4S. but its the people who are jealous/envious/unhappy that make snide comments.
Like others here, you work hard and as long as its not stretching you financially than anyone else can bugger off.
Who's counting the days till the snows come off
For all of our amusement, I just returned from a business trip to Singapore. The cost of these critters over there is other-wordly. see http://www.sgcarmart.com/new_cars/ne...hp?MOD=Porsche The cost excludes the $100,000 license, the $20,000 insurance and the tax on engine displacement over 1.6 liters. WE HAVE IT CHEAP here! Enjoy them.

Not me. I dont feel like an *** but I bet they do as I leave them for dead at the traffic lights or as I overtake them on the broken centre lines of a two lane carraige way. I even sport in the largest of letters along the *** end of my car the words P O R S C H E 911 Carrera. Just to let them know what it was that made them feel like an ***.

No and Yes - never feel that way based on the expressed opinion or judgement of others. But at times I do stuff that makes me feel like an ***. Just did it again tonight - wife's car needs some tires - total installed cost for four with a four wheel alignment is like $550.00. Tonight when leaving the kid's basketball practice she sees me "feeling" her tires. She says " what the hell are you doing now" - I say, "just checking to make sure you really need four, the two on this side seem okay" - Even though it's dark I can see, and feel, her glare as she says "just get me four and be done with it (then mumbles some stuff I won't repeat)".
That is when I felt like an *** as I considered how much I pay for tires, and of course I have a set of summer and a set of winters for both of them- plus she knows I just dropped $2,500.00 on the C2. I quickly said, "Yes, you are getting four tires AND an alignment". But still feel like *** at the moment about even considering cheaping out when it comes to her car.
Also - I don't think I ever feel that other people are asses because of what they drive. I get along with the neighbor who has his toy, a nice red Corvette convertible tucked away in his garage, as I do with the neighbor who drives an older Ford Windstar.
For some reason I don't feel the need to make other people feel like an ***.
Need to go buy some tires tomorrow and make this right. Easy fix, a whole lot cheaper than Diamonds - "Tires, that'll shut her up".

Yah a little after punching it past a bunch of baffunes playing google how to settle on how to line up correctly to obstruct all the traffic and how slow it too slow for the fast lane while cars pass them to the right. Germany it is illegal to pass to the right of anyone no matter what lane they are in. We are lucky in that aspect. Germans require many years of drivers training before receiving a license. These clowns in america take a 30 question test for a license to kill.

Hi, I am from Singapore, its just crazy how the prices of cars are over here. Its not good for car enthusiasts. It has also become a DREAM for many young people here to own a car as the cheapest new car will cost around USD65000.
My 1998 996 C2 cost me USD99000 2 years ago when I bought it. Have to pay a yearly road tax of USD3900. Insurance of USD3500 yearly.
Our cars needs a COE (certificate of ownership) which is only valid for 10years, after which we will need to pay (current rates USD73000 for a 3.4L car)) to the local authorities just to renew the COE to own "our" car for another 10years. I have another 5 years of validity on my COE, after which I am not sure if I will even renew the ownership with the high cost involved.
Sorry, deviated from the topic a little. Just had to rant the steam out about our transport systems here since I saw the post on my country.
Cheers

My car may be 13 years old, but it was born a "supercar" and it will always be a stunning vehicle. The GT3 body kit is like icing on a damned fine cake. I have yet to find anyone who doesn't think the car is amazing once they get over whatever snide comment they had to share. The 996 is a marvel of engineering, and represents one of the biggest, if not the single largest, technological leaps forward for Porsche.
a leap forward it may have been, whether that was a good thing or not is debatable.
As to the rest of this thread, WHO ****ING CARES. If someone wants to think I'm showing off, fine. If someone things I'm a douche, thats their opinion. Who really cares what their neighbors or coworkers think. If your friends judge you over your taste in cars, then they probably shouldn't be your friends.
The rest of this is just ego stroking about how you're all such connoisseurs.
