Anyone here have any suggestions on how I could run MY02 18" wheels on my wide body 996?
I would like mount 225 and 265 in the rear as my winter set up.
Thanks
Al

What you need depends on the offset of the wheels. The good thing is that you can run narrow body wheels (higher offsets) on a wide body car by adding spacers, but not vice versa. Spacers actually have the affect of lowering the offset.

Stock size for my car is
8J X 18 et 50 front rims
11J X 18 et 45 rear rims
I know the MY02 wheels:
fronts are Offset 50 8x18. No problem with these
The rear Offest 65 10x18 that I am trying to fit.
Am I correct to think that I will need a 20 mm spacer for the rear to match the factory specs?
Thanks

Yes, make sure that they are Hub Centric. IE: use the wheel center to locate the wheel on the center of the hub, not just the lug bolts.

Porsche offers a 17mm spacer and a 21mm spacer. Both are hub-centric, which is important. One note - they bolt to the hub using your existing wheel bolts. They have studs onto which you mount the wheel. You then need to get a set of lug nuts - they don't come with the spacers from Porsche (it's silly, but that's the way it is). If you run the 21mm spacers, then your effective offset will be 44mm. The wheels might look a little bit "sunken" into the body, but it will be fine.
FWIW, I also run 10x18 rear wheels for my winter setup with 265mm width rear tires. My wheels are 48mm offset as recommended by Porsche. Even though it is the size and offset recommended by Porsche, it looked too sunken into the rear fenders to me. I now use a 17mm spacer with them. This puts the wheels flush with the body, looking very similar to my summer 11x18 setup.
