I have to voice this. I have no reason too other than to help my fellow Porsche friends.
Its a long story but the insurance company I had since I was 16 years old cancelled me for a non-payment and failed to inform me, and I was driving with out insurance for 3-4 months. When I called to purchase rental insurance the agent informed me the policy was cancelled a few months ago. They also refused to re-instate at the same rate of 2500.00 a year for 2 units. They wanted to re-instate for 4500.00 a year.
So this forced me to scramble to get covered. What sucked was this Nationwide company had me since I was 16, good driving record and a good payment history. They dumped me... for a mistake that was made because I had moved, somethings got messed up and I simply clicked the wrong date to pay them on my bank on line billing.
Anyway. I ended up changed to Erie Insurance. Both Cars, More coverage, full tort for 1300 a year!
Here is what they also do. I have to agree to limit my driving of the car during winter months. # months of the year. The car is still 100% covered. I picked Dec-March.
I will pass my agents name to anyone that would like a quote. This saved me over 1/2 my premium and Erie is an actual Ins company not a re-seller.
They didnt bulk at all at the 911 like most other companies did...
I have no affiation, no other reason to pass this info on other than I know how hard ins companoes can be on the 911.

My insurance for the Porsches isn't too bad with MetLife Auto. It's the two Subarus that my teenagers drive that really cost me...

I've got Erie and live in Pa also. Had about ten years now rates have been stable and I have a local agent, which I like the convenience of. Was surprised they onle bumped me $99 when went from a jeep wrangler to the 911 as my DD.

Insurance companies track which cars have the highest and lowest injury rates, and have found (no surprise) that injury rates are much higher in small cars. The best car, though, with the lowest injury rate per car? Porsche 911. It really helps keep our insurance rates low.

Also worth nothing is the top 10 worst insurance companies have a horrific track record of selling cheap (often not-so-cheap) insurance and then denying payments for all sorts of fine-print excuses. So, deal with them at your own peril.

1. Allstate "The Worst Insurance Company in America"
2. Unum
3. AIG
4. State Farm
5. Conseco
6. WellPoint
7. Farmers
8. UnitedHealth
9. Torchmark
10. Liberty Mutual
FWIW, I'm paying $69/month to GEICO for my Porsche. They've not raised my rate despite many tickets and my wife's annoying tendency to back into other cars while pulling out of driveways. Erie's supposed to be one of the best.

If you want real protection from loss, I suggest an Agreed Value Policy. While there are several who offer this coverage, I just switched to coverage through Leland West. They know Porsche's and Porsche drivers. They were the only insurance company / broker at the Porsche Parade - and they uniquely fit my usage with part time driving to work in my "Exotic" & "Classic" automobiles. I insured two Porsche's for less than the cost I had prior with USAA with better coverages, and ... the piece of mind that should a Total Loss happen I will be able to replace my Porsche.

Nationwide allowed me a stated value and customization add on-s but lets think....
I had nationwide for 36 months with the car at paying 1200 more a year...
so thats 4300.00 I paid them that I will not be paying erie.... I dont think I have 500$ in customization and it they are off more than 4000$ on the replacment cost, Ill get a lawyer and a new ins company.

That was about 1/2 what continuing with Farmers would have been out here (after the move to CO).
