Default Vanity mirror cover broke

So the vanity mirror lid broke on drivers side and I saw these on Suncoast can you buy / replace just the lid? I have the lighted vanity on both sides.

http://www.suncoastparts.com/product...Code=POTE996IN

But also saw these could I just take covers off and use on my cars existing lighted one?

http://www.suncoastparts.com/product/euromirrornon.html

Do they sell just the covers anywhere?

Do you need the base or the lid ?

If it's the base drop me a line.

Both drivers side and passenger side had busted covers when I purchased my 2000 C2. I asked my Porsche parts guy about replacing the covers..... You know the answer........They only come with the base units. Approximately $100 per base. They have to be sodered into the visors. The lighted vanity mirrors only work when the cheap plastic covers are opened. The Porsche parts guy told me most people just do without. Wish I could fix them cheaper than $200, but that money is better spent elsewhere.

When covers on my lighted visors broke, I looked into buying just the covers which, of course, you can't buy. So, I bought non-lighted visors and swapped the covers onto my lighted ones. Easy and inexpensive.

I have a new spare illuminated base if anyone is interested.

I only needed to replace the cover.

This is almost as important as the dreaded visor issue.

A few velcro dots fixed my visor covers. Cheap and easy.

+1 I did the exact same thing. Stupid weak design. Mini Coopers have the exact same design. Always break at the weak *** hinge area. The lids just flex/bend into place fairly easily. I never use it, but the wife does all the time.

That is what broke on mine the lid right at the hinge. Looks like the hinge just cracked in half on the one side so what I wanted to do is buy the non lighted visors and install that lid. lighted = $80.00 vs non-lighted = $20.00 plus from picture on Suncoast looks like non-lighted don't have the annoying yellow warnings.

Yes, that is what to do exactly. I'll even bet it was the right side hinge.

OK, I bought the non-lighted lid - but - how do I get if off the mirror portion without breaking it? A little baffled here.....

The first thing to do is prevention. Everytime someone gets in my car they start trying to open / close compartments, push buttons, touch things, etc., while asking "what does this do, what is this for"?

I politely say, "Do NOT touch anything", then I eject them.

Just the cover or the whole mirror? Just the cover pulls right off, just make sure you bow it towards you at the middle, and it will pop right out. Goes in the exact same way.
