Default Will a 1999 C2 Make it from Florida to Texas?

This might sound like a dumb question but with all the 996 problems would I be crazy to drive a 1999 C2 with 50000 miles on it from Florida to Tx? The trip would be about 850 miles. Would the engine blow up on IH-10? Even if I drive 60 or 65 MPH?

I made on offer on a Florida car but dont know if I should ship it here or drive it if they accept.

Would any of you make this trip in a 99? I think I would be permanently scarred if the engine fragged on the way home. I refuse to pay Porsche $17000 (if they accept my core) for a replacement engine just on principle.

You're dicking with us right? If you're serious (which is difficult to imagine), and you're that worried about it, ship it. Otherwise, get a PPI done, make sure the car is sound, and I don't see any reason why it wouldn't make it. The average age of the car on the road in America is 11 years old, so that makes the average an '01. These cars are much better than average.

If you do not believe the car could cover 850 miles without blowing up you need to sharpen your used car picking skills.

Or maybe once you buy the car you do not plan on covering more than 850 miles while you own the car?

Would you be any less seriously fragged if the car lasted until you got then blew up at 851 miles the next time you drove it?

The mind boggles...

Seriously, relax.

Just be sure you give the car a thorough check out, get a 15 mile test ride then 15 mile test drive before you plunk down the money for the car. Oh, and after the test ride/drive get a PPI before you plunk down the money.

Sincerely,

Macster.

I'm very serious. I have read every doom and gloom post I could find about the 996. It does seem that the most prone to blow are 2002 to 2004 with about 25000 to 45000 miles. Not sure why though.

Please, please, please do not buy a 996. Your heart will thank you later.
