I traded in my aerokit 911 (99) back in 07 on a truck and they absolutely added value on the offer price based on the options. I definitely got a few grand more because of the aerokit and mix of other desirable options on it vs a stripped out one. You're wrong if you think that doesnt happen. If you notice the little blue book includes modifiers for options just like it does for mileage and condition. Everything is negotiable. Lots of people aren't great negotiators and assume that getting screwed is "normal", but it really isn't. On private sale, if you have an aerokit car you just need to hold out for someone who *actually wants the aerokit* (rather than panic sell to low ballers) and you'll get your price. The aerokit option is pretty significant

Now if its added aftermarket, and especially if it isnt OEM, that changes things dramatically. In these cases I 100% agree that not only would you not get additional cash on the trade, you might actually lose money. Private sale would be tougher too as you'd have to hold out for a buyer who doesnt mind "mods".

Well I've never traded a car in at the dealer so I don't have to worry about that. Mk1 OEM aero kits are somewhat rare, especially on post '99 cars so I would think they would boost the resale somewhat. Now for the resale of a car that has illegally tinted taillights and knockoff wing, I'm not so sure of...

They can give you a ticket.

P.S. FWIW, I think some are probably concerned that some Internet wacko will use it to figure out who they really are, where they live, etc. In some ways I get it. A lot of people online would rather remain anonymous or, at least, relatively anonymous. A license plate actually offers a lot of information with someone who has the right resources. Of course, every wacko who sees you in real life (probably an even bigger threat) can do the same. Maybe I should drive around with a rag covering my license plate.

Mlambert you're right, maybe I just worded it wrong. But, yeah ANY mods to a car may or may not help you when you get ready to sell it. Alot of times a person wants a stock one so he/she can put their own personal mods on it & sometimes you may get lucky & they love that particular look of it. Shark as for the license plate, the rag's no different than when anybody else posts a pic of theirs but they just erase it or cover it up, you gonna tell me you've NEVER seen this? Would you want Everybody knowing your address & phone # (do you not believe somebody can't get your lic. plate # & find out just about ANY thing they want about that car & its owner). jmo

Sue, I just saw the bottom of your post. I've just Always seen & been told that its NOT a good idea to show it (when there's really NO reason to) if you look on many forums MOST of them ARE covered up. But like you also said, pretty much wackos everywhere & you probably run into them everyday, so if anybody really wanted you that bad they could probably find you but I just didn't think there was any reason anybody just had to see it, since its not personalized anyway. jmo

Like I said, I get it. There are crazy people out there and when it comes to sharing data online less is always more.

Here is an aftermarket Aero wing on a 3.4 2001 996. GT-2 type with a ram air effect.

Porrsha, that looks alot like mine (where did you get it from). I really like the wheels on it also, I've just never been a yellow car guy (I've seen some nice looking ones but I don't think I could ever pull the trigger & buy one) but you know the old saying never say never! Lol! Gator, I think you've got your car looking Great why do you want to put a different wing on it (I really like your tail lights also) to me a Porsche looks soooo much better with a wing (I don't care what model or year) but the Taco is probably my least favorite of all! jmo
