I have a friend who wants it but needs an Indy in the area to do a PPI... Any suggestions appreciated. Heavily optioned car in unique trim & color but way high price.

Wow @ the price ! There's a coupe over here in the same colour combo that's getting no interest at £6k (~$10k):

over the top
As an '01, heavily optioned but w/Tiptronic and, uh, an unusual color combo, I would say the price is unrealistic. Market price would be around $22-25K if/when you could find someone who likes the color. But, to each his own, right?

Personally, I bought my '01 Cab without too much concern about residual value. We all expect cars to depreciate. Like many people, I bought into the whole Porsche mystique: superior engineering, performance etc etc etc. However as many have pointed out, reading more and more on Rennlist about the "small percentage of owners" who have had massive engine failures, has made me skeptical about the marketing claims. Thus far, with fastidious (and expensive)maintenance, I've very much enjoyed my experience. It is alarming though that the Porsche cognescenti ascribe a lower value to the 996 based on what's happened during the 99 to 04 years, so yeah it's annoying. If someone wants to offer their car at $33k and someone buys it, good for them.

On a related note, I got really excited when I saw this ad since it was placed in the Car section of ebay and NOT Car Parts section.
Thinking $12k BIN was a steal until I read the ad.

OH MY GOSH!!
Plan on being buried in it because that is the ultimate color combination mistake! Forgive me but that color combo is just awful!!!! It's embarrasing just knowing Porsche would manufacturer an interior in that color.
Back in the 70's, it may have been 'super', but those days are gone!

I actually like the exterior color a little bit... If only it had a black or tan interior...
