Will a 996 have enough room for me?
Hey guys, considering a 996, as well as a Boxster/ Cayman S and some older 911's. I was wondering if someone could tell me if the 996 C2 coupe would have enough room for my needs. The car would be for fun, and road trips to my home town for long weekends, or a week at a time in the summer. It is a 650 km trip, and I need room for me, my wife, luggage, and our 10 year old 50 lb American Staffordshire Terrier. The dog could likely hang out in the back with seats flat, yes? How much luggage fits in the frunk, and would I be able to fit extra in the back area along with the dog? Any help, or pctures would help out greatly.
Thanks.
Thanks.

If your wife packs like most women you're never gonna make it. Without the dog you can do it, so put the terrier in the front seat. (Sorry, couldn't resist). Good luck!

Thought about that, but I think that would be grounds for divorce. Just kidding We usually don't pack that much, expecially in the summer as it's mostly shorts etc. Usually one large soft sided bag works for both of us. We also have a number of smaller bags as well. I seen the front of a 997, and it looked like it had almost no room in the frunk...is the 996 exactly the same? The Boxster and Cayman both seem like they can hold quite a bit.

My wife is a conservative packer, but always wants to have a Mid-sized Colman Cooler on board ( just in case all the healthy food is sold out at our destination ). Non-the-less we traveled to Parade this year - 10 days on the road - and had room for a roll-on hard bag ( just fits in overhead on a plane ) in the Frunk with a few soft items + two soft small duffel's and the cooler in the back seat. Now my guess is the Dog is not much bigger that the cooler so you should be OK. Also note - my Carrera is a C4 which has a smaller Frunk. The 996 and 997 have significantly more room in the interior than a 993 or earlier car.

The back seats should accomadate the dog and maybe a soft bag like a back pack. The frunk is debatable. Not much room because of the spare tire but if you pack light you should be ok. A smallish hand bag in the passenger foot well at a pinch. Thats if your wife doesnt mind.

Should be fine if the front spare is out for more room and the wife packs light. Granted, my spare is out for weight savings and since I have larger rims now....plus roadside assistance. Actually, my rear seats have been removed also....LOL.

I would be looking at a C2 for sure. I checked one out yesterday, and found the "frunk" to be acceptable. It would be a squeeze, but I'm sure it would be okay.

No chance in my opinion... I also have a 50lb or so dog and with the coupe when you fold the rear seat backs down it is not to the bottom seat cushion. They actually stop above them which only gives you so much head room. Unless the dog wants to lay down on the entire trip I do not think you will have enough headroom for him.

Well, that will be a problem as we take our dog with us everywhere. He's 10 years old, and doesn't do well being left behind even with friends. He used to fit in the back of my old 944 with luggage in the back, and the rear seats folded down. He's 50 lbs, but he's not that big physically, just muscular being that he's an Amstaff. Hmmm, not sure what to do...
