Default Fitting wheels from a 2001 turbo onto 2003 carrera conv

Hello everyone

I'm sorry it's another wheel fitment question, but the search function is not working well for me and I'm in a jamb

I ran on a a rear flat just long enough to get out of traffic, and apparently that ruined my wheel on the 2003 Convertible

In my search for a replacement wheel, I ran into a set (with rubber) that came from a 2001 turbo. The sizes of this set are 996.362.136.04 FR=4100N and 996.362.142.03 FR=5800N. The rubber that came on them is not too important because I already bought new rubber for my stock 996, but for reference, and in case they are useable on my car, they are (225/40/18) and (295/30/18).

Also for reference, the tires on my stock 996 are (225/40/18) and (265/35/18)

So the questions are:

1) Do the front and rear wheels/tires combo from the 2001 turbo fit as is without ill effect (other than added weight) onto the 2003 convertible?

2) Can I mount my new rear tires (265/35/18) on the 2001 turbo wheels?

Any help or advice would be very much appreciated

I'm sure somebody with wheel fitting expertise will chime in, but I believe that you'll need to run spacers in the rear to make these wheels fit without rubbing. The front wheels will be fine. You can fit the 265s on an 11" wheel, but it won't look right. A wheel that wide really needs a 295 tire. Also, you may not pay a weight penalty. The turbo wheels are hollow spoke, so they may actually be lighter. I know some of the early 2001s came with solid spoke wheels - not sure if this is the case for you.

Thanks Dennis. Yes these are the hollow spokes version, and it's nice to know no weight penalty would be incurred.

Would you know by any chance what size spacers would be needed, and is it possible that spacing out a little may cause rubbing on the outside? This may have been a dumb question, but I had to ask.

I also read somewhere that bigger than stock wheels/tires on any 996 is not advisable as it causes "cupping" which I'm not sure I understand, but that's why I've been cautious about buying this set.

Thanks again and I hope you or others have more to add
