Sounds like your engine needs rebuild and its value is basically value of "core "
Even if you have reputable shop rebuild it for you and they find out (for example) just one valve guide needs replacing .. while you are in there you might as well rebuild everything anyway .. so again value is just "core" charge ...

What were you planning to do without the engine? If it is still running strong could keep driving for a while. There was a thread somewhere here about running slightly thicker oil to reduce consumption or even seafoaming things ..even it that accelerates the problem you would gave had to rebuild anyway at somepoint so could be worth a try ....

yah ok "core" so it basically worth more staying in the car then taking it out.

That goes for any engine that runs but if it wipes put the catalytics, you will have to then replace then AND the engine. If you can afford, replace/repair/rebuild it as soon as possible.
