guys, do you know there is a whole 10 lbs difference between the 996 mufflers and 997.1 mufflers, I did a swap yesterday, I tried to install the 997.1 mufflers to my 2002, I had to cut 2" of the converter pipe end to fit the 997.1 into my car. Fitment is perfect, but I have to use the 997.1 tips too.
When I move the 997.1 muffler, I found it is much lighter than the 996 muffler. So I took out the scale and weight them, the 996.2 muffler is 22 lbs, and the 997.1 is 17 lbs. That's a total of 10 lbs weight loss by using the 997.1 in our 996 cars.
