Share - interesting PTS situation....
Customer approached us a year ago to do painted bumperettes for his Paint To Sample 996 Turbo. Problem was, he was not the original owner, and the information we could glean from the vehicle was the order went to Porsche for Barchetta Red (Ferrari).
We produced a couple sprayouts from Ferrari's formula (very precise) but when laid down on the vehicle it was obvious that neither was 100% dead on.
Eventually, we obtained a small piece of the actual vehicle (tow plug) and ran it through a spectro scan to get the information. We produced a sample based on that, but even that was not 100% so we tweaked it to our eye to match that tow plug.
We then produced his rear bumperettes, our BumperPlugs and Door Plug all in that finish, and here....presenting his images...Barchetta Rosso Ferrari on Porsche 996 w/our painted bumperettes:
We enjoy doing custom work for our customers, but sometimes it can really be a stretch!

Yea Eric even using the spectro you will most likely run into metamerism issues with a custom color match. The color may still shift under a different light source but you did the right thing tweaking by eye for the final formula. I run a color lab in the graphics industry for the past 25 years so know something about it. The Barchetta red is beautiful by the way.
