Default which headlamp bulb?

I need a head lamp bulb for my 1999 996. The high beams are ok but the low beam is not working on the passenger side. I have the bulb in my hand and can see the filament is broken. My question is whch one is the correct one for this model. No fancy mods please. Simple factory bulbs. The page I am on is Geeks and there are 3 bulbs which look the same as mine but all have differant part numbers and prices. My old bulb has no part number as I can see on it. Here is the page http://www.partsgeek.com/catalog/199...ight_bulb.html Any help would be well appreciated. Thanks.

If you can see a physical "filament" then it's halogen bulb rather than HID capsule, the HID capsules are at the very bottom of the page in the link you provided.

Looking at the other two types of bulbs on that page, the H9 do not have the black tip coatings and therefore are high-beam bulbs, so that *should* leave you with H7 as the type for low beam which does have the black tip coating.

To be 100% sure, and since you have the bulbs out, just compare the connector base, the H7 are straight, the H9 are right angle.

And I'm surprise there are no identification on the old bulb, there is almost always some form of silkscreened or stamped identification information somewhere on the base of the bulb.

You can always take a picture and post here so we can be more certain while identifying the bulbs.

OK Aviography. I found the part number and ordered the bulb from Amazon. They are the Osram H7 64210 made in Germany. I went for the aquivelant Phillips Ultravision which is a lot quicker delivary and cheaper. Thanks for your quick response.

Is it the halogen or the HID that tend to create the yellow burn if you have DLR ?

It's the halogen ones. See post #21 of this thread https://rennlist.com/forums/rennlist-canada/702449-does-anyone-know-this-car.html
