Default Plug Tube O-ring Grease...

The small tube of 'Porsche' grease for the spark plug tube o-rings cost about as much as a set of tubes. Is there a standard grease out there that works as well, a moly based grease or other high heat version?

3M Silicone Paste? Comes in a can like antiseize. Usually a lifetime supply.

Aha! I think I have some already......8 oz, pretty much a lifetime supply.

Thanks.

Exactly where is the grease applied, the o-rings? Thanks Van, I'll be going to Lowes to pick up a tube.

O-rings. Might want to take them off to apply in case they roll when inserted.

At the end of this thread is a cheap method I came up with for getting the tubes out....https://rennlist.com/forums/996-foru...-change-2.html to add to the list of removal techniques.

Yes, I put a little dab on my finger tip, then rub it all over the o-ring, then assemble.

I'm sure the stuff listed will work. The manual actually recommends tire mounting grease as the alternative. I just asked tire guy for a little and he gave me a glob. Apparently it lubricates initially during installation and then gets tacky to prevent movement.

I would also recommend engine assembly grease. It can be found at most auto parts stores.
