Default So my 40th AE 996 is worth more than I paid for it?

I have an 04 40th AE 911 with 20,900 miles on it - it's in 9 out of 10 condition wise - nearly new looking inside and out.

I bought the car from a Porsche dealer about 3 years ago with a CPO warranty and 12,000 miles on it for mid 40's at the time.

I just checked the NADA site, and the prices seem high there. I expected the car to be worth somewhere in the low to mid 30's (perhaps a bit more due to condition/mileage/service). Last year I did do the IMSR, RMS, clutch, water pump, all fluids, AOS and new lifters - so that helps a bit as well.

One thing I do like about the X51 package is that this car from 2004 is only down 5hp from the base 2013 991 model 911.

I, too, bought well... but that was mainly due to the owner wanting a 2008 turbo real bad.

Helps to be in the right place at the right time.

I sold mine (with Nav) last year at this time for $29k to a car buyer with almost 70k miles on it. I bought an 07TT to replace it.

When I was shopping for my 40th AE, there were 3 in my area - all priced roughly the same. I went with mine because it was CPO and had the low 12k miles.

There was one that had NAV, but I didn't get that one. It also had the rear wiper option.

Can you tell me how well/how bad the NAV system is that was available with this car? I heard it was not great, but that was just one person's comment.

I have a dash mounted NAV from Nuvi that I use, but I am curious how well the factory NAV worked - any review/comments on that?

I have it, and the wiper, and the color-matched hardshell seats.

I like the Nav as a neato-type thing, and like the larger screen. As far as up-to-dated-ness, not-so-much.

Granted, I usually know where I am going, so nav is not really necessary. And if I need directions, there is always the net, or the iPhone. I do wish it was iPhone compatible. That maybe something I "fix" in the future.

BTW, I too had a scooby... 07 Sti really fun.

I have no rear wiper and the painted sport seats with no Nav option. I have played around with my buddies nav unit and it's pretty bad compared to even a cheapo Garmin (as are most OEM nav units).

The only thing I wish I could integrate bette in my iPhone / bluetooth. I have explored but not a lot or real clean ways to do that without just going to a new head unit which I don't really want to do.

I would expect mid-30s to be more of a realistic retail

It still a great deal compared to a 993 - there prices make no sense whatsoever to me!! Best deal in the Porsche world in an 02-04 996 turbo IMO.

Most folks wouldn't give you anywhere near $9K for low mileage. Conversely, there's a sucker born every minute so if you did want to use that as a means to sell the car to someone with more cash than brains you probably could get close. I'd say that it would bring mid 30s all day long as it is a really nice 996.

NAV was OK. It was vey clumbsy to use with the *****. Garmin or Tomtom is better but looks crappy to me. Nice thing was you can put in an address while the cars is moving. Some MFG wont let you do that.

Yeah nada said my wifes caravan was worth 7000.00. After months of auto trader and trying to trade it also. Putting it in local paper. We ended up letting it go for 3500.00. And 3500-4000 was my gut feeling before I looked at nada.

996 prices bottomed out a couple of years ago and seem to have stabilized since.

If you want to sell your 2004 20k 9/10 condition 40th Anniversary with X51 for "low to mid-30s" let me know

The big question: do you have the luggage?
