Default Does Solisto Basic work with a 2001 996TT/ Navi?

Greetings all--- I have failed to get clarity after reading through the forums on whether the Solisto Basic works with the 996TT. I see a number of posts about people installing the "Solisto unit" or "Solisto Extra", but nothing about Basic. I have no desire to control the Ipod through the Navi screen, and plan on doing so through the IPod itself. Any thoughts on options, otherwise? This is not for the 997, obviously.

I'm not sure about Solisto, but if you're just looking for an AUX jack for your iPod, then you can buy a cable from Becker.

Default Becker Plug

Dennis--- love the color on your 4S. Just picked up the same color.

Could I bother you to describe where I can get the plug, and how it works? I have not come across anything describing a plug that can be easily put into the Becker head unit anywhere in my search. Thank you!

I ordered it directly from Becker at http://www.beckerautosound.com/. They sell several varieties of the cable. If you call them, they should be able to help. Some of them have RCA plugs, some have a mini headphone jack plug and some have a direct iPod connection. I bought the one with the iPod connection. I also bought an adapter from Scosche that allowed the cable to charge my iPod. You don't see song titles or information on the screen and you can't control the iPod through the headunit, but you do get a direct wired cable to your iPod and it sounds pretty good.

The installation was extremely simple. All you have to do is pull the headunit out with the keys (Becker will sell you a set if you need them) and disconnect the CD changer if you have one. The cable plugs into the same spot on the back of the headunit as the CD changer. It's quite easy to run the cable to the glovebox (if you have a glovebox) and then you're ready to go. There's a setting you have to activate on the headunit to in order to make the AUX input work, but it's quite easy. You should be able to find instructions on it on here somewhere.

Glad you like the color! Midnight Blue Metallic is my favorite!

Awesome, thank you so much! It's rather incredible to me that on my 997 it was basically impossible to hook up my Ipod without spending an arm and a leg and its so much easier on the 996. Kudos to that. Thanks again!

I'm with you on that! It was simple in my 2002 996 but there's not an inexpensive and simple solution for my 2004 Cayenne. Frustrating...

Dennis, curious, do you have a Navigation system on your 996 as well? That might throw a small wrench in things. Forgot to mention.

When I added the cable to the system, it was the standard CD stereo with Bose, not a nav unit. I'm not sure if a cable exists for the nav headunit, but again - the Becker guys should be able to help.
