Default Fister muffler sound limit

Just a note to say I had no problem w/ my new Fister exhaust cans at Laguna Seca here in CA on a 92dB day. Weather was clear and sunny. Should've done a sound check but too much fun to screw around. Maybe next time. Great sound especially leaving the hot pit w/ the wall right next to you. At speed, it's a bit louder from the cockpit, but still subdued as it needs to be to pass sound.

Very timely. I just got mine done today, and all I can say is WOW. Definitely the best $ I have put into the P-Car so far!

Happy to hear that you passed the 92 dB test!

Here in Calgary the police have just brought in something called the "noise snare" which will catch vehicles that are louder than 96 dB (http://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/calgar...ise-snare.html) - I have always wondered if my Fister cans would trigger it - but sounds like I should be okay.

Wait until you've done about 200 miles, the sound gets even better

I have a problem with my new Fister D's. I spent all that money putting in a new Double Din Pioneer Unit, and after installing my new sport exhaust, I prefer to just listen to the sweet sound coming from the back end.

Only for a brief second. That's the beauty of these exhausts. They are only "Loud" at high RPM's or quick acceleration. Shouldn't do either in your driveway.

I have on my 40thAE and they are very mellow on start up. Only time they get loud at all is windows open and over 5k especially true on my X51 equipped car but the sound that you get is music to the ears. You will not be dissapointed best mod you can get and the car should have come like that from factory. I only wish there was a Stage III mod for 996.

Yeah, tell your neighbors to get their lazy asses up! No, they aren't loud on startup, as mentioned earlier, only loud under hard acceleration, just as you would want them to be. Once you reach desired speed, they go back to sounding like normal.

As MiamiC says, it's what they "should" have sounded like from the factory...they are great.

C four S, I did have the option. I had mine done at Vortex Motorsports in Tampa, they had done a bunch, and recommended using 1.5" tubing...said the welds were better than 2" or 1.75". Also said if for whatever reason I wasn't happy with 1.5", they would re-do with 1.75" or 2". I'm pleased as can be with 1.5." They are plenty loud, and sound phenomenal.

I don't think there is any consensus on this point, at least not that I've been able to determine.

Maybe Darrin can shed some light on this? I know he frequents the 993 board but I don't recall ever seeing him here. Just another case of "no love for the 996".
