This thread reminds me of going into a Napa to get a case of oil on sale. I wanted to pick up a filter as well which they wanted near $20 for. I said no thanks as I knew I could get it at Pep Boys for $12. Their response was "you drive a Porschee you should be able to afford that". A-holes.

I have to be the voice of dissent here. If the MAF is not throwing codes, I say leave it alone. You screw it up by cleaning it and you will need to get a new one.

My first one went 125k before it started tossing codes. I replaced it myself, relatively cheap and easy. I now have a back up one I will attempt to clean with electronic device spray cleaner. I will be able to test it out with no risk to putting the car on the shelf. If cleaning it does no good, no harm, no foul.

I agree Gretch. The only time I have cleaned my MAF was when it started throwing codes, I cleaned it and didn't throw any codes for about 2 weeks, then the same CELs appeared. So, I bought a new MAF and haven't had a code in almost 26k miles.

Should have asked Napa to price match Pep Boys. I know stores like AutoZone and others do this.

I'll defer to the experts, but others here do recommend cleaning the maf. I did mine after seeing several threads on rennlist and on other sites recommending the procedure. I noticed a definite improvement in throttle response after cleaning mine, though I had no codes.
