Pity the bas**** dealer didn't have to shell out the money!!

Are you at liberty to share with us all the name and location of the guy, so we can all avoid him and spread the word??

I'm glad it worked out for you. I'd also like to see the show when it airs. Please post again when you find out the date of when it will air. That way those of us who are subscribed to this thread can watch. Thanks for posting all the info.

FYI: the IMS failed on my 2004 car at 27K miles and the engine was replaced by Porsche. I'd consider the LN bearing but it can't be done on the newer engines without splitting the whole engine.

Thanks again for posting!

Are you sure? Because some people still don't believe there is anything wrong with the OEM IMS bearing!

My guess is the engine overheated...due to Global Warming. Let's all quit worrying and go for a drive!

Yes, I'm sure. At the time, it was kind of surreal and like a bad dream. I didn't want to believe it. I was on my way back from a great Porsche Club 3 day trip from NY back to MA.

I am QUITE sure the OEM IMS bearing has problems! Believe the hype because it's true. There is at least one lawsuit out there and will be interesting to see where that goes.

I forgot the *NOT* part - or smart - Don't lie to a tv judge or try to outsmart him. I can tell you what I have been able to piece together - I do know my way around an engine a little - so the RMS starts leaking bc it sits - or just bc as we know the RMS on a lot of M96 have failed. Then the leaking oil goes right on to the clutch plates for years and glazes it up - the flywheel is getting tons of abuse bc of the clutch slipping. Finally it just goes - but I kept it - yes I lugged that clutch assembly and dual mass flywheel w me and it was my witness
