Default Valet or Self Parking ?

I hate door ding. Currently she has perfect body and paint. But everywhere I parked, I keep worry about getting a ding except at work & home. It is better at valet or self parking to avoid ding ?

Depends on the place. I love it when the car gets parked out in front of a nice hotel. Happened in Atlanta, Nashville, and DC. Tip the valets nicely up front and banter a bit and your car will be as safe as it can be.

Usually if you are a nice to a valet and tip - they will leave a pcar right upfront. I always note the mileage when i leave the car and return

I always prefer to self park, then tip the Valets for putting up with my selfish-ness.

Self Park...when possible. Went to a baseball game a few weeks ago. Great seats with valet parking. Tipped up front so they would take care of my car. As it turned out, I stayed for only 3 innings. Came out and through the window of the entrance, I could see my car parked near the front, but the brake lights were on. Walked over to the valet stand and presented my ticket. Got a nervous look and they quickly pulled my car up for me. I went to the back and the engine compartment was still hot. They explained that a spot opened up and they wanted the car up front. Temp gauge was at 180ish. Pretty sure they took it for a spin.

I'm not sure my ADD would allow me to write down the mileage every time I used a valet, but I think I'd notice if I went and had a nice dinner and it was still at 180...good catch, I'd be PISSED.

I figured that my situation is different than a restaurant where people are coming and going all night long. I am sure they figured they had a few hours with some captive cars. Never again.
