Bad new for the 1st owner. But good news for the 2nd or subsequent owner.

I imagine that Cab values are regional. In the sunbelt, the opposite is true. I could see where your service manager's opinion would be accurate in a colder, cloudier market.

I see both sides and could sleep well regardless. My mechanic is not that concerned with the IMS other than using a magnetic drain plug and always looking at the oil when replacing.

The 2002 X51 I just sold had it done so that was a big plus for me when buying and selling.

Of course, we could do the IMS replacement on this Cab which I would be likely to do anyway. Still I hated to see what happened to SacTown and that nice C4S.

In the SF bay area and east bay and inner valleys (and central valley too) while we do not have any many sunny days a year as you do in your area the weather in this area and vicinity is cab-friendly quite a few months of the year.

But I take the point you make. Regional differences in climate could affect one way or the other Cab depreciation.

Sincerely,

Macster.

Whew! My post made me nervous as I know my limitations and like most, would not care to be on the opposite side of a P-car discussion with the Macster! You may be the single most authoritative poster on this forum regarding all things Porsche!
