Question Exhaust mod

Hi everybody,
I'm about to make modify my exhaust with the Fister D mod. I know a lot of you out there have made this mod.
My question is: should I pay for the ceramic coating ?**It's a $175 extra.**Does it worth it?**Did you took that option ?
I would like to hear you on that.**Your comment or experience.

Thanks,

Mario

I am on the waiting list for my Fister D. I am interested in hearing what others thoughts are as well.

I've had mine on my car for about a year now, and couldn't be much happier The Fister Ds with the EVO CAI give the car a nice growl cruising through the streets, and is exciting to listen to when you are going through the gears while getting on the freeway. As far as the ceramic coating goes, it looked really nice and as I understand it protects the equipment against corrosion and other possible disasters I'm thinking if you live in the southwest where the temps are warm and dry, you probably don't need it

I have had the Fister D mod for about two years. I thought about the ceramic coating, as I do track my car so the environment is a tough one. Elected not to do it and no issues and I LOVE the sound, real flat six music! Ultimately your call, if you were doing a lot of tracking, or running out west (ie., AZ) or in Florida, might be something to seriously look into. GL Darin is the man! His work is great, I have had many compliments, you will love it, with or without the coating.

Thanks Larry,
As for the Fister D mod, I will have it done. My hesitation is for the ceramic coating. You say it could protect against corrosion. I tought the exhaust was protect because of the stainless it's made of ?

Unless you daily drive in the snow states, Show car, or just OCD, it's really not needed IMO. Car has factory heat shields and not sure how negligible any heat scavenging effects will be since its further from the header and have to pass through cats first anyways.

My car has been daily driven in GA most of its 115k miles and mufflers still look great.

My $.02

I had my Fisters ceramic coated. I chose the "ceramchrome" option. I did it for a few reasons. First of all, I loved the way they look with the coating. You can't really see them unless you're under the car, but I like it! I also appreciate the corrosion protection. Finally, I like the idea that the ceramic coating makes the mufflers run cooler on the outside, keeping the heat down a little bit in the engine compartment.

I don't think you need the coating, I just thougt it was a cool option.

Have you thought about just doing the Fister D mod yourself or brining it to an exhaust shop and having them do it for you? I did mine and it cost me about $20 for the 1 180deg bend which I cut in half for the 2 90degs i needed and a couple rods to tig it. A good exhaust ship wont charge much either.

As far as ceramic coating the only reason I would do it would be for heat protection. Your exhaust is stainless, using the proper rod will not contaminate the stainless either so corrosion should not really be a problem. I tigged up my fister D mod about a year ago now daily drove it through a Canadian winter, and there is still no rust and corrosion is minimal.

I went over to the FD Motorsports shop a few weeks ago and had the Fister D's put on my cab. At the time the ceramic coating version wasn't in stock. With either version you're going to be really happy.

I love mine as it now sounds proper. It's also provided the additional benefit of preventing my wife from driving it as she states "it's too loud now".

Thumbs up

Thank you everybody
I have made my mind...I won't have it coated ! Since I drive my car only in summer time (sleeping in the garage from late november to late march), I don't think it's necessary.

Enough talking, let's call Darin

Personally, I don't think the ceramic coating is really worthwhile unless you're doing the whole exhaust.
