Just starting a thread about my 2002 Carrera race car. It's running all the GMG bits, AST 5300s, GMG exhaust, Forgelines, etc.
Next on the list of things to do are: strobing lights (VLN style), fixed lexan slider windows, RSR bumper, suspension adjustments, BGF R1-S's, and MORE WHEELS!
The car got down to a 1:55 laptime. For comparison, a WC 997 GT3 was running a 1:51. With some work I think we can get another two seconds off our time.
Here's a video from the four day weekend. I didn't bother with any video except Monday.

Also on my list is center lock conversion. I am sick of having 20 lug nuts per car. I am hoping that somebody will eventually tell me how to do this. I have asked several different people and have yet to receive an intelligible answer. Anybody on here know how to get this done?

I'm now lowering (again) my 2002 996 C2 racer. First off, I am well aware I am missing the tender springs for the fronts. They are on order and will be here after my next event. I don't like running without helper springs, but what needs to be done will be done. I have two drums of Sunoco 260 GT Plus ordered to run in this car as well as some of the Prospeed 683 brake fluid. I have the wheels pulled off to have the new BFG R1's put on tomorrow. The RSR uprights with the center lock hubs are on the way. However, according to people who apparantly know better than me: CL hubs are merely dangerous not to mention completely useless
As for the ride height, I have some more tweaking to do tomorrow so I will report back when fully finished (and with more pics). For now though, the corner weights are as follows:
LF 535 RF 493
LR 924 RR 861
Total: 2813 and 49.63%
Clearly, I have a bit more tweaking yet to get it perfected, but I am happy for today anyway.
For those new to the thread this car has AST 5300's; GMG replacements of the OEM sway bars, control arms, etc, etc; GMG exhaust; coolsuit; blah; blah; blah. Baseline: it's fast. Ruins lots of peoples days who think they have fast cars.
I need to get shorter springs, as well as the RSR uprights. The RSR uprights and center lock hubs should be here in about a week. The center lock BBS E88 wheels take about 6-8 weeks to ship from Germany. They have to be built.
Time for the pictures:
Cheers!

That really is a beautiful 996 race car. Wish it were out West so we could play....
Here's my $.02 on setup and I have a lttle experience. First off use the cup car tenders with 6-cup correct spring lengths. That makes it relatively easy to change out spring rates and they're readily available. Also use 2.5's for maximum inside wheel clearance. Here are the 6-cup specs:
(length MM/rating/diameterMM so 4" fronts and 5" inch rears):
Front: Spring 100/240/60 (240 N/mm)
Helper spring 75/60/43
Rear: Spring 130/260/60 (260 N/mm)
Helper spring 60/60/50
I definitely would use much softer rates, I run 550/750. Also it appears from those pics that you're setup pretty tall in the front. I'd drop that front some especially when you install the RSR uprights. For height the 6-cups run 85 mm front, 120mm rear off Porsche's measured points. That's a lot of rake but something to consider. I only run 25mm of rake and it seems to work well on my 99' car....
