Default Window woes

My passenger window has always refused to drop properly when opening the door - 1/2 cm compared to c.2cm that the drivers' door window drops.

I asked the dealer to look at it last week whilst in for a service, and they claimed it needed a new motor, but had forgotten to call me to ask if i wanted the work done or not.

Park up the car tonight, open passenger door to get a bag out, and when closing the door, the passenger window drops to half height. Lock the car and it drops completely.

Window is now completely stuck open.

Any ideas other than straight back to the dealer monday morning?

Thanks, Gareth.

There are postings on Rennlist and film on youtube on how to remove the door panal, and change window regulators and how to make adjustments. If the motor had gone bad, as the Stealer is saying, then the window would not even move a cm. Did it suddenly drop open or move with the motor running?

This happened to me.. Turned out to be a bad regulator, the motor is fine. When my window dropped on it's own and wouldnt go back up, I had a blown fuse! Replaced the fuse and was able to put the window up. DO NOT buy a reproduction regulator off of ebay they are crap and im going to need to replace mine again because it doesnt adjust correctly. Not a hard job but a bit of a PITA..
