Lessee . . .
I would call the Whip more British than Irish. Regardless, great locale, excellent brews on tap, great cheeses and soups, etc. It's definitely a pub with genteel panache. As for being in the middle of nowhere, well, that's the point right? Actually, it's in the middle of horse country/chateau heaven--not too far off of Rt 41 if you're looking for a quick in-&-out someday.
I used to regularly do an awesome out and back 70 mile loop from my door that incorporated Rt 100 (Creek Road), 841, 842, and 82. Beautiful vistas and enough terrific stretches of road that you can actually exercise that flat 6. For lionger runs, I'd incorporate stretches of Route 1 (really opens up outside of Kennet Square), Route 41, etc.
I've never really pushed my jaunts up towards Pottstown.
Lot's of great stuff around New Hope also, though I don't have much time on those roads.
It would also be great to put together something around the Delaware Water Gap.
Bottom line, there is a lot of great stuff in and around Southern Chester County (Kennet, West Chester, etc), so I tend to get "lazy" and stick around the area--unless I'm heading to the track . . .

Southern Chester Co is beautiful. Basically, go west of 202, north of Route 1, and south of 30. You can drive for hours on many scenic lanes. Many of these roads are unpainted, and barely 1 car wide. Don't be surprised by the occasional gravel section. It's mostly conserved lands and farms.
And as another poster mentioned, please watch out for us cyclists.
