Default SmartTop & RemoteTop behaviour

I recently purchased and installed both the SmartTop and RemoteTop modules, very happy with the product in general.

Noticed a behaviour a few days ago and wanted to see if others have observed the same:

- When I initiate the open sequence from using the RemoteTop, the sequence stops if I open the driver door too early, i.e. if the sequence is only about 25% complete when I open the driver door then the sequence stops

- This does not seem to happen if I waited until the sequence is about 75% complete

Would like to hear other's experiences before I approach the manufacturer.

TIA

I have the smart top and absolutely love it. One of the best mod's i have ever done. as for the problem your experiencing, i do not have the same issue although i can only test it from inside the car. so it may be something specific to the remote top product.

I have the same behavior. It's a "Safety" thing. That's the way it was designed. Just let it get far enough into the cycle before you open the doors.

From a few trials and errors tests, I've observed that at about 50% travel is the point after which the top will continue to open fully without stopping dead in its tracks.

It's not a real issue, more just a minor annoyance that I will just have to wait a few more seconds before opening the door.

I'll check with the manufacture to see if they can offer some comments.

I use it a lot when closing the top after I get out. I usually just open it after I start the car. That way I don't have to wait and it saves the battery.

I don't have this issue but maybe this safety feature wasn't available 6 years ago when I purchased the units.

Mine does the same thing on my '01 Cab. I agree, must be a safety feature. It is a wonderful mod. Love to get moving and have it go up or down.
