Default 996 Brake Rotors

I have to replace all the pads on my car and the rear rotors.

Is there a difference between front rotors and rear rotors?

Hope these videos will help you. This is work being done on a 1999 996.. You may need an impact screw driver to remove the rotors. Good luck

I got a great deal on Hawk pads last week on Amazon. Got rotors and sensors from Vertex. You can re-use the shims if you remove them carefully. The sticky part was still tacky enough to work for me.

Great videos! Thank you very much!

How did the wheel studs come out? What's the best technique for that?

What wheel studs? The ones bolting the wheels to the car?

Those are great videos. That guy taught me how to change my oil his video anyway. He does not bleed the breaks after changing rotors and pads. Total noob question, but is that because one does not need to bleed breaks after rotors and pads?

41 years on earth and all I've learned about cars is that they're expensive, and of course how to change the oil, but that took all 41 years.

You don't need to bleed the brakes unless you open the system somewhere. With pads and rotors, brake lines and calipers stay attached so no need to bleed.

These are the same YouTube videos I studied before doing my brakes a couple of weeks ago, very good and informative videos.

Yes you are correct that cars are expensive, and don't forget they are (usually) poor investment avenues as well.

Next on your list is probably spark plugs and oil tubes if you have earlier MK I models, that will be a bit more difficult and involved when compared to changing brakes.
