CVT in a Porsche?

No such thing exists for these cars. Also, none of the CVTs that have been built by other manufacturers are yet able to handle the torque/power these cars make. So far, the maximum power that production CVTs have been able to handle is around 250hp before they implode.
Audi made the B6 A4 with an optional CVT for two years or so then abandoned them because they were crapping out left and right.

The reason I asked was that I thought F1 banned CVT in '93 because of its advantage over semi-auto transmissions. It's been 20 years, I would have thought that CVT would have made its way to today's sports cars.

What are your reasons for not wanting a CVT?

I'm old school and prefer more driver input, but, that doesn't mean that CVT couldn't be made to be superior in performance. For enjoyment, I prefer my 6spd but if I were racing I'd want a CVT as it appears to manage traction and torque better.

But CVT's have not really progressed in the performace arena, I think you are better off with a PDK type system.

Are you saying that Formula 1 is not the pinnacle of performance? If CVT wasn't banned because of it's performance advantage, it would be in every F1 race car.

I bet F1 banned it do to the enormous cost of developing one. The KERS systems are pushing new ground.
CVTs are yesterdays news no good PR for them.
Plus all of the cars would sound like angry bees on crack running at 15000 rpm everywhere while melting CVTs.
