Default Short Shift Kit Install...Surprise?

Well, I finally set aside some time today to install the B&M SSK and EVO Linkage. I get everything opened up to find what, but another short shifter already there. Anyone recognize this?

Since I was in there, and this kit used plastic fittings and stock linkage, I decided to go ahead and change it anyway. The new stuff is dialed in but I am disappointed that after all that work, I did not get to enjoy a shorter throw.

Oh well, off to the next project, maybe suspension.

That logo is what is throwing me off. Looks like one of those eBay kits. Identical in design to B&M I bought.

Yes the porsche OEM supplier has that triangle P logo. I believe B&M made the porsche short shift kits as well

Thanks Jyoteen. So, if this supplier made the OEM shifters, is it possible that I pulled out a standard shifter? Did that supplier make the "non-s throw"? How do I determine a stock, standard shifter from a short throw?

If it helps, the old shifter had "12/03 0005" etched in it. Did Porsche use short shifters in 2004. I have my original window striker and it does not have a factory code for a short throw, assuming it was a separate option.

Thanks again!

The standard shifter has really long throws. There is a recent thread with pics of the 996, 997, 997 ssk and b&m. Take a Look about 30 posts down for a visual reference.

You'd have to compare between the two shifters (short OEM, OEM, and B&M) via part numbers. I believe you could order the short shifter at the parts counter and/or have it be an option? However, the latter, I'm not sure about.

Note below, the picture from the 997 forum from someone building the engine w/ the triangle P logo and the porsche part number as confirmation.

Very good eye, Jyoteen! OEM it is. I'll just keep it in case something ever happens to the B&M. Kept the plastic linkage as well.

The SSK was a factory option - my 04 C4S has it from the factory build. I had the dealer install an OEM SSK in my 04 C2 with in a couple of weeks of picking it up, couldn't believe the throw and the slop in the standard shifter.
