Default E-12 Torx socket

I have to get an E-12 Torx socket to loosen the seat mounting bolts, I could buy just that size or a set of 6 for about 2.5 times the cost of just the E-12 socket.

Are there other Torx socket head bolts on the 996 that I might need the additional sizes for?

TIA

i feel if you are going to work on your car, why not purchase a new tool if required? save $ from dealer/indi, get some satisfaction too. i got a set from craftsman (not affiliated!) as i do not use my tools professionally and feel they are a good value.

why are you loosening the seat bolts?

I had to buy a set. Couldn't find just an individual E-12. Not talking a whole lot of money anyway.

I don't mind getting the set since it is not too expensive, I just hate the thought of knowingly buying the full set if only the E-12 is the only Torx head bolts on this car! I have a fair bit of tools, but until the 996 seat removal I never realized there are such things as Torx head bolts!

There is the (perceived) benefit that it is less easy to loose a whole set vs. just the one socket......

Need to remove the bolts of the driver seat to install the RemoteTop electronics, and will likely install the fire extinguisher and bracket at the same time.

This is a very dangerous suggestion, I'm driving across the border to Niagara Falls to pick up some other stuff, and just found a Haror Freight store listed 12 miles away from where I'm going to be.....

I'll be sending you my credit card statement if I blow my budget there!!

I hear ya. I have had to swear off that place for a while! It's hard because they do such a great job marketing here. Do they blitz the mail and papers every week in Canada with their ads? If not I am sure you can get the coupons online....

Snap-On 10mm 6-point socket removes the seat bolts.
Snap-ON 8mm 6-point socket removes 6mm threaded engine bolts.
Your mileage may vary with lesser brands.

A torx set for the popular sizes from advance or Autozone is $10-20, chump change. No,they are not professional grade, but for the occasional use you will need them for, and yes, there are many torx fasteners on our cars, they are more than adequate. IIf you want, go crazy, track down a Mac tools truck and pay $75 for the same set, which will last forever.

I have the set, but most autoparts and hardware stores sell the singles.
