Default Clutch pedal action - magic self healing

I've been following the clutch helper/release spring threads with interest, as my 2002 996 4S (83000kms) clutch pedal has never been right since car purchase in November last year.

Has become heavier and heavier, with a notchiness at the top of the pedal travel that made smooth shifts more and more difficult.

Car needs a service in the next few weeks, so had put off any DIY, with the intention of having it looked at then.

This morning, driving into the parking at work, and the clutch suddenly lightens up by at least 30-40%, and a test drive just now has confirmed it's stayed that way. Pedal action also nice and smooth now.

Self healing Porsche???

Will get the spring looked at regardless.

Make sure the clutch line is also bled when bleeding the brakes. That is often overlooked.

This happened to me recently. My clutch didn't feel bad but was pretty heavy when I first bought the car. After a really hard push from first gear all the sudden the clutch was super light and felt way different.

Turns out my clutch was toast and needed to be replaced.

oh no. hope that's not the case. thought clutch pedals got heavier when the clutch is on the way out??

hoping it's the helper spring that was stuck, and has released itself!!!!

I was just pointing out that it's been exactly 5 years since I posted in that thread.

Sorry! Wrongly assumed it was a dig at not having looked at historical threads thoroughly enough. I was a bit edgy after scanning through the 23 pages of that particular thread. Please accept my sincere apologies.

+1 on chsu74's comments.
I recently had the clutch and brake systems flushed and filled (60K mntce on my '99 C2 cabrio) and the clutch pedal and general engagement, especially when everything is cold, now feel noticeably smoother.
