CCU? There is one behind the CD holder/cubby in the center stack. It is for the phone option. It is a flat connector that has four wires (I think?) in it. I used it for my garage opener.

Maybe he meant ecu, in which case not really a good option IIRC.

Thank you guys!
I know about the phone-option, problem is I have the PCM phone and handset installed and find it difficult to access the connector....
So, the climate-control unit is easy to access but is any of the connectors behind it switched 12v?

Does anyone know How to remove the handset mounted on the lefthand side in the passenger footwell?

Mine had a screw near the center of the panel. After removing the screw, you can pop-off the panel. You may have to feel around for the screw head as it can be seated below the carpet fibers.

I removed my cellphone cradle and replaced it with an iPod touch.

Thanks Bill.
Mine is a 2003 and my cell cradle doesn't look like yours.
There are no mounting screws except so I guess I will have pull and see what happens...

On my 2003 the CD holder and Cubby are stacked like wyovino's. CD holder on top. Both the CD holder and the Cubby are just snapped in from the front. I open the two center CD trays and pull it out by the trays. Then I can pull the Cubby out, this opens up the whole front of the center console.

Peter, I doubt that the cellphone cradle shown in my photo was the original one from the factory. The console frame can take either a standard side piece or the wider piece made to accomodate a phone. In my console (mkI), the frame has a threaded hole to accept a screw. If yours doesn't have a screw it should just pop off with a tug from the front-most end. My guess is that there is a screw or a clip to hold the added weight of the phone and cradle.

Frank has a good idea. Pull out the cubby and the cd holder ( if present) and you may be able to see what's holding the side piece in.

The side piece is just snapped in. Pull the front free and unhook it at the back. I took mine out to and machined it to accept a Home Link for the garage doors.
