I honestly don't know about the power savings, but it was a fun little project. You only need to desolder the wire from pin 16 (12v+), solder it to your switch, then solder a jumper wire from the switch's other terminal back to pin 16.

Besides saving power, the switch also shuts down the tool's Bluetooth radio. Leaving it plugged in and turned on would allow anyone walking by to connect to it (albeit, not to the ECU).

That is a slick little mod. Waiting on my OBD Bluetooth adapter from China.
