Default Anyone commute less than 5 miles?

Any adverse affects? I commute a whopping 3 miles one way to work. I read a little about moisture accumulating do to the engine not getting up to a good running temperature. Can this be remedied with a good drive after work on Fridays and over the weekend?

My commute in the pcar is to work is about 15 miles now.

But I use to live 4 miles from work so most days drive 10 miles or less. I think the answer to your problem is change the oil more often. When I was driving low miles in town I changed the oil every 3K miles. Now I change every 5K.

The biggest problem you will have is the exaust not getting up to operating temp and it may shorten its life. Other than driving more not sure how to fix that problem. I guess you should take the long way home.

My commute is 2.5 miles. I take the car out once a week minimum and drive it for a while to get it up to temperature.

Mine is 8 mile each way and part of that is on a toll road. Gets up to operating temp everyday.

My current commute is about 5 miles each way (and half of it is on the Parkway). It gets up to temperature but I try to get it out for a bit longer whenever possible to give it a chance to burn off any water. Unfortunately, because my commute is so short my gas consumption is pretty bad - about 14mpg.

For a while I had a 3 mile round trip commute. Wasn't good for the car IMO, so just hopped on the bike.

Most of my trips are less than 10km. I used to worry about this, but I realized something: One, the car isn't going to be any healthier sitting in the garage for weeks than it is doing short trips. And two, life is too short to not enjoy your Porsche just because you don't live far enough from work.

That was six years ago. I change my oil very frequently. Car and driver both doing well.

3 miles each way in west LA traffic (takes anywhere from 5-15 minutes depending on traffic, how I hit the lights, etc).

usually in the mornings I go straight to work but sometimes in the evening I'll hop on the 10 to PCH to Sunset and have a little fun

other than horrible gas mileage I've seen no poor side effects.

3 miles each way for me. I'm in a 997.1, so maybe there's some difference, but I'm usually up to operating temp in a half mile or so.

Like everyone else, the city streets commute leads to miserable mileage.

I would, except where I live it's when, not if you're run over.

I like having an intact spine and functioning legs.

Mine is a DD and my commute is less than 5 miles roundtrip. But lunch time is fun time!
