Default Coilover owners (lowered) and computer alignments

PSS9, PSS10, H&R, etc. owners. If you've had your car aligned on a computer, what did you tell the shop the car was most setup like? GT2, Turbo? I'm assuming the alignment computer is going to crash if you tell it that it's a stock 996.

I'm going in for an alignment tomorrow, just for toe, camber and caster. I mistakenly installed a steering wheel one spline off, and had a cheapy alignment done, now that I've corrected the wheel it's off.

It's also off because I had my engine out and also removed many suspenion components during the restoration (both front and rear). I removed one of my coilovers to repair a broken bolt, so I'm sure that is contributing to the bad alignment. I wasn't happy with the front ride height so I setup the car at 26" from ground to wheel well on all 4's (yes I know CB would change that).

I would go in for a CB but can't make it to a good shop in the bay area right now, have to settle on just an alignment.

The last good alignment I had done included a corner balance (ALL done by hand) and the car was 100% perfect.

I'm taking it to the dealer and am wondering what I should be telling them as far as specs (or what car to mimic).

Had mine done to GT3 spec at s-car-go. Talk to Rob, there are a number of ways to go.

I had mine aligned to custom specs for how I like the car to feel and to preserve the life of my tires. I had front toe set to near zero, with just a hair of toe-in and about one degree of camber. The rears were set to -.12 of toe-in with the camber set to about -2.5 degrees I think it was. I wanted less camber in the rear, but I ran out of adjustability with the stock dogbones. My car is pretty low though, around 24.5" ground-to-fender.

It drives fantastic. Tracks straight, doesn't wander too much on the freeway, feels stable at speed and the tires seem to like it as well.

What I have on H&R's

Camber Front: -0.8 each
Toe front; 0.05 each

Camber rear: -1.6 each
Toe rear: 0.15 each

Not too radical but gives me a neutral feel. Tire wear looks good so far. I'm about 15 give or take inches - fender to ground.

My 996 is aligned per Porsche "sport" specs. A search will probably reveal the numbers

X74 Suspension on my car, aligned to GT3 specification. Sorry but I cannot seem to find the sheet with the correct specs. I woudl suggest dialing out a bit of camber in the rear tires to improve tread life.

Thanks everyone, I think the answer then is GT3, but I don't want to mess with the ride height, just the toe, camber and caster.

I'll upload the specs to this thread once I'm done.

If you spend a lot of time driving the car not on a track, I'd have them dial out some of the camber in the rear if you go with GT3 alignment specs for the sake of your tires.
