04 C4s questions
Looked at a '04 C4S today. I could not find ANY vehicle identification stickers - underside of hood, engine compartment, nothing. Do they not exist on the 996? My old 968 had them everywhere, told me the factory options, etc.
The car I looked at had been in an accident, and I am wondering if the lack of stickers in the front hood was a result of a re-spray. It would also give me a clue to the degree of damage if there was supposed to be some stickers there.
Thanks in advance
Keith

The DOT plate with the VIN is located on the rear of the driver door, just beneath the latch. Gotta know where to look.
Agree with others here--if it's missing from that spot, walk away. The options sticker usually goes under hood, but they're not always there due to poor adhesive, overzealous cleaning, etc. Don't assume paintwork until you get a paint meter and check. Of course, look for other signs of paintwork, and get a PPI. Good luck!

Its obviously been in a front end smash and a new lid had to go on it. Thats where the stickers are. I would run a mile from it. No price could tempt me into considering buying a 996 that had been in a good front end smash. There are lots of 996 on the market so keep looking.

same sticker can be found in the Service Manual.
Either way you can get all the Info with a VIN number by sending to Suncoast Porsche. They can look up the VIN Number and tell you what all Options are on the car...
Only way to determine the kind of damage the car has sustained is to get it PPI's by a Reputable Porsche Indy or even the Dealer.

I could still see the outline of the sticker, therefore nothing has been painted and the sticker just fell off somehow. But if you can’t see any outline of the sticker, and it’s 100% clean, than it could have been painted...
